What Are Kratom Alkaloids & Why We Test For Them

At Wellness Marketplace we believe transparency isn’t just a marketing term — it’s a responsibility. This page explains exactly what we test for, why it matters, and what the results mean for you.

WHAT IS KRATOM?

Kratom (Mitragyna speciosa) is a tropical tree native to Southeast Asia, belonging to the same plant family as coffee. It has been used traditionally in Thailand, Malaysia, and Indonesia for centuries.

In recent years Kratom has gained widespread attention in the United States — both as a botanical supplement and as a subject of significant regulatory scrutiny. The FDA has raised concerns about Kratom’s safety
profile, its potential for dependence, and its pharmacological similarity to opioids at higher doses.

Kratom’s effects are driven primarily by a class of compounds called Mitragyna alkaloids — naturally occurring chemical compounds found within the Kratom plant.

THE FOUR ALKALOIDS WE TEST FOR

These are the primary Mitragyna alkaloids associated with Kratom’s pharmacological activity. Independent laboratory testing screens for all four in every batch of IndoBlend™ products:

MITRAGYNINE

Lorem ipsum dolor sit amet, consectetur adipiscing elit. Ut elit tellus, luctus nec ullamcorper mattis, pulvinar dapibus leo.

7-HYDROXYMITRAGYNINE

A minor alkaloid in raw Kratom leaf but significantly more potent than Mitragynine. Research suggests 7-Hydroxymitragynine has strong affinity for opioid receptors and is considered one of the most pharmacologically active compounds in the Kratom plant. Its presence in any product is a serious red flag.

MITRAGYNINE PSEUDOINDOXYL

A metabolite and oxidation product of Mitragynine. Research has shown it may have even greater opioid receptor activity than 7-Hydroxymitragynine. Testing for this compound is part of a comprehensive Kratom alkaloid screening panel.

AKUAMMINE

An indole alkaloid also found in the Akuamma plant (Picralima nitida).  While structurally related to Mitragyna alkaloids, Akuammine is associated with opioid receptor binding activity. Its presence can indicate cross-contamination or adulteration in botanical products.

WHY THIS MATTERS FOR INDOBLEND™ PRODUCTS

IndoBlend™ is formulated from Uncaria Tomentosa — Cat’s Claw — a completely different plant with no botanical relationship to Kratom (Mitragyna speciosa).

However, because IndoBlend™ products exist in the same marketplace as Kratom products, and because some consumers and regulators may have questions about botanical alkaloid products, we made a deliberate
decision to test every batch against the full Kratom alkaloid panel.

This serves two purposes:

1. PRODUCT PURITY VERIFICATION
It independently confirms that IndoBlend™ contains no Kratom alkaloids — not through our word alone, but through accredited third-party laboratory analysis.

2. CONSUMER CONFIDENCE
Customers deserve to know exactly what they’re putting in their body. Zero detection across all four alkaloids means IndoBlend™ is exactly what it claims to be — a pure Uncaria Tomentosa botanical extract. Nothing more.

OUR TESTING STANDARD

All IndoBlend™ products are tested by Encore Labs
License: C8-0000179-LIC
Accreditation: ISO/IEC 17025:2017
Method: LC-DAD (SOP CA_M-ALKALOIDS)

Results for all four alkaloids across all IndoBlend™ flavor variants:
Not Detected (ND) — across every batch tested.
